Donald Milburn Service Award

The Donald Milburn Service Award has been established to honor those who have contributed to education in the sonography profession and have provided a valuable service to that community by designing enduring, innovative teaching methods, creative teaching technologies, or other outstanding contributions to sonography education. Individuals and teaching institutions will be considered for this award.

Nominations

  1. Nominator must be a member in good standing of a recognized professional ultrasound organization. Nominations may not be made by self-nomination.

Nominee Eligibility – Individual

  1. Individual nominee must be a member in good standing of a recognized professional organization , and must have maintained that membership at least 3 years,
  2. Individual nominee must maintain current credential by a national credentialing agency recognized by the IFSER Board of Directors,
  3. Individual nominee must demonstrate a clear role in the support of sonography education.

Nominee Eligibility – Institutional

  1. Department sonographer must be a member in good standing of a sonography professional organization, and must have maintained that membership at least 3 years,
  2. Department sonographer must hold current certification from either ARDMS or CCI,
  3. Department sonographermust demonstrate a clearly defined role of support of sonography education.

Judging and Selection

The IFSER Board of Directors will judge nominees based on the award criteria. Should the Board decide there is no nominee demonstrating acceptable merit, no award will be presented.

Judging Criteria

  1. Documentation of design of innovative teaching methods or creative teaching technologies,
  2. Documentation of other outstanding contributions to sonography education,
  3. Documentation of active involvement in sonography in the institutional, local, state, or national arenas.
